Fix Bad Pool Caller - Cause And Solution On How To Fix Bad Pool Caller Error

By Yang (Edited by Lynne Hand)

IThe Bad Pool Caller is really a computer error that may pop up on Windows based computers. It manifests itself in the form of the so called "Blue Screen of Death", generally right right after the PC has been started, at boot time. A blue computer screen may flash up with a message about "Bad_Pool_Caller" and some number.

Then the PC may reboot again shortly, discovering itself in an endless loop of blue screens and failed attempts to start properly, or you might be lucky and it just starts and works.

Why Bad Pool Caller Occur?

The bad pool caller error almost always appears when new hardware is added, but it can also occur when certain software program is installed or right after particular updates.

What makes the bad pool caller error so tricky is that it can be brought on by faulty hardware but also by a faulty software program, for instance a faulty driver which has just installed or updated itself.

The bad pool caller error could also result from a defective memory chip, or from a driver incompatibility with your hardware.

So How to fix the Bad Pool Caller error?

The first step is to ensure that your hardware is OK by doing a memory check. If you are using windows vista system, you can run the built-in memory test in Vista by pressing the F8 key when the computer starts to bring up the Windows Boot Manager. (If you are on windows xp, please refer to the registry solution below)

Now go down to tools and select Windows Memory Diagnostic. The memory test will be performed. You can also press F1 and change it to advanced mode. Let it run and check  the memory.

You can also try to remove hardware from your PC, unplug as much as you are able to and see whether the issue exists. Try to begin your PC with the bare minimum of add-on cards in your computer. Then add much more cards to your PC, one after another, and see whether and when the bad pool caller error appears.

If you don't have a problem booting on a CD/DVD like your Windows DVD, and if you have done a memory test, then you know its not your PC hardware, but some software program or driver issue.

To check your drivers and software errors in Windows it is highly recommended to perform a comprehensive check of the Windows registry. Windows registry can be thought of as a central platform that controls the software and applications as to how they should work. As times passes as you install and uninstall programs, the windows registry can get corrupted. Performing a registry scan can help fix various computer errors including the bad pool caller error.
